The latest version of Cursor 0.48 is too explosive

Cursor 0.48 brings revolutionary updates to improve the coding and conversation experience.
Core content:
1. Composer functions are integrated into Agent, and the automatic execution capability is enhanced
2. Chat tabs and custom modes support parallel conversations and personalized settings
3. Index performance optimization, sound notifications and other new features improve user experience
The most important thing is that the Composer function is integrated into the Agent, and the Agent mode can be executed automatically.
Chat tabs, custom modes, and faster indexing
This release introduces chat tabs for parallel conversations, a redesigned mode system with custom modes, and improvements to cost visibility, indexing performance, and MCP reliability. Additionally, a sound notification plays when a chat ends.
Built-in modes and custom modes (beta)
Proxy and Ask modes are built-in modes in Cursor, and now there is the option to add custom modes. We have also renamed "Edit" to "Manual" to better reflect its behavior.
By default, the inquiry mode now has access to all search tools, so@Codebase
The Ask tool has been removed. It will automatically search the codebase when needed. If you want to force a search, just ask Cursor to "search the codebase" with natural language. You can disable Ask search in the mode menu, which will cause Ask to only see the context you provide.

Custom Mode (beta) allows you to put together new modes with tools and cues that fit your workflow. Since custom modes can have custom keybindings, CNOI will default to agent mode , and CNOL will toggle the side pane. If you unbind I, it will also toggle the side pane. Custom modes are currently in beta, and you can enable them from Settings → Features → Chat → Custom Modes.
You can also set the default mode to one of your modes or the one you used most recently from the settings (Settings → Features → Chat → Default chat mode).

Chat Tab
Create a new tab in the chat (CBT) to have multiple conversations in parallel. You can also hold Option and click the + button to create a new tab. Cmd+N still creates a new chat in the current tab
When a tab is waiting for your input, you'll see an orange dot on the tab.
Faster indexing
We’ve made significant improvements to indexing performance for similar repositories across our team, significantly reducing the time it takes to initially index subsequent copies of a large repository once one copy has been fully indexed. For example, the Cursor repository now indexes in under a minute, whereas it previously took about 20 minutes.
Sound Notifications (Beta)
The cursor can now play a sound when the chat is ready. Enable this feature from Settings → Features → Chat → Play sound when done.
Usage-based cost visibility
For usage-based models, you can now view the cost and breakdown of each chat from the history.
New employees
We've introduced a simpler onboarding process to help you get started with Cursor. You'll be guided through importing settings, selecting a theme, key bindings, and other preferences.

Improved indexing performance for teams sharing a codebase The vertical sidebar option will temporarily be unavailable to users who opt-in to early access Projects using MCP servers will now prompt users to enable them When approaching a quick request or usage limit, the chat will display a notification about usage-based pricing Improved visibility of autorun controls configured by team admins to clarify when they are active Removed the Autorun prompt due to reliability issues. Autorun has been disabled for all users who previously enabled it
improve
We have moved "Reject All Differences" from Cmd+Backspace (Back) to Cmd+Shift+Backspace (Back) MCP on Windows should now be more reliable Improved MCP error messages when configuring an MCP server to aid debugging Added input token counts for chat messages (click the three dots to see). We’ll continue to improve context visibility so you can clearly see what’s being sent to your model, look forward to more!
