Very cool. I don’t know if you have seen a short video in which the founder of Rokid wore a pair of AI + AR glasses at the Hangzhou Yuhang District High-Quality Economic Development Conference. He did not need a teleprompter or to look down at the script, because all the content of his speech was already presented in the glasses.

What does it mean? I checked and found out that Rokid's glasses can display a virtual interface with the help of transparent lenses without disturbing the normal vision, thereby achieving the display effect of information superposition. This function directly hits my pain point. I have many similar scenes in my daily live broadcasts and speeches.

I don't know how to express my excitement. Let's put it this way, the shock Rokid Glasses brought to me is far greater than Apple's Vision Pro. Especially after seeing the form of Rokid Glasses, I clearly feel that it is likely to become an important hardware terminal in the AI era, just like the status of mobile phones in the mobile Internet back then.

The above is a screenshot of the glasses, which I took directly from the official website. First, the weight of this pair of glasses is only 49g, which is very close to the myopia glasses we wear daily. Second, the price is less than 3,000 yuan, which is within the acceptable range for everyone and is not expensive. Third, using glasses as a carrier, taking into account both hearing and seeing, it can naturally integrate AI multimodal capabilities.

I clearly remember that in 2006, when smartphones were not yet popular, I saw a concept phone from Motorola on my computer. It put the capabilities of a mobile phone into a watch. The watch was a mobile phone, and the mobile phone was a watch. When I saw the news at that time, I was very interested.

I have the habit of wearing a watch. If I don't wear it one day, I will feel uncomfortable. The watch has become a new organ of mine. Therefore, if more functions can be added to the basic functions of the watch, it is equivalent to one of my organs evolving stronger capabilities. For example, now, I use Apple Watch to measure heart rate, track fitness goals, check WeChat messages... How convenient and natural it is.

The same logic applies to glasses.

I believe that there are many people who wear myopia glasses all year round like me. Glasses have already become an organ of our body, so when I saw the lightweight Rokid Glasses, I immediately realized that with the change of technology, glasses, as an organ, also have the opportunity to evolve to be more powerful and carry more functions.

At the same time, compared with watches and mobile phones, glasses have two very important characteristics: they are close to the eyes and close to the ears, which determines that they can be integrated into more daily scenes.

In fact, if you stop and think about it, isn’t the most natural way to implement a function like the teleprompter mentioned above through glasses? Putting up a large screen behind the stage is just a stopgap measure. I guess that many people who do short video broadcasts will buy this product in the future, because as long as they wear glasses, whether at the beach, in the office, or in a taxi, they can quickly open the teleprompter and express themselves smoothly, and users will no longer feel that his eyes are erratic.

In addition to the teleprompter function, Rokid Glasses can also act as a camera, allowing you to take photos and videos quickly from a first-person perspective at any time. I even think that for most photo-taking scenarios, glasses are more suitable than mobile phones and watches. They can truly achieve what you see is what you get, just like having a camera installed next to your eyes. And because it is close enough to the ear, it is also a headset that can make calls, listen to music, and interact with people through audio.

What's even cooler is that Rokid Glasses is also equipped with a multi-modal AI model. For example, when I go to the supermarket downstairs to buy fruit, the usual process is to take out my phone to scan the QR code, but if I wear glasses, I can just scan the code and use the touchpad to confirm the payment. For another example, AI glasses can be used to identify objects in front of me, and if I have any questions, I can just talk to the glasses.

To be honest, glasses can be integrated into so many scenarios. I think in the next ten years, AI + AR glasses will definitely enter our work and life like mobile phones. I look forward to using them as soon as possible, and when I do, I will give you a review article as soon as possible.

I just found out that Rokid and Lens Technology recently announced a deep strategic cooperation. Lens Technology is a well-known company in the manufacturing field. I heard from a friend before that Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and other companies are its customers, and its business covers consumer electronics, new energy vehicles, photovoltaics and other fields. In other words, the problem of Rokid's glasses production supply chain has been solved, and there should be no suspense in Q2 mass production.

Many foreign companies are also betting heavily on AI + AR smart glasses. Meta also released Orion last year, but the cost was too high. I think this is also an opportunity for China. Over the years, from smartphones to new energy vehicles, China has accumulated a complete ecosystem. There is reason to believe that the new generation of AI + AR glasses that can be mass-produced will come from Chinese companies.

I think it won’t be long before smart glasses become as common as smartphones, and everyone who wears glasses will upgrade to smart glasses. And then, many people who don’t wear glasses today will eventually start wearing them. So, no matter what, I want to experience Rokid Glasses first.
